OVERVIEW¶
Open Redirection vulnerability in the recovery portal.
DESCRIPTION¶
Due to weak callback URL validation in the Recovery Portal, the callback URL is vulnerable to Open Redirection attack This vulnerability is only impacting deployments which have user email verification and password reset via recovery email enabled.
IMPACT¶
By leveraging the Open Redirect vulnerability, using social engineering techniques, an attacker could persuade a user to click on a valid link (but with a malicious payload) and get the user redirected to an attacker controlled page where a phishing attack could be executed to obtain highly sensitive information or harm otherwise.
SOLUTION¶
If the latest version of the affected WSO2 product is not mentioned under the affected product list, you may migrate to the latest version to receive security fixes. Otherwise you may apply the relevant fixes to the product based on the public fix:
